‘Tis the season!
Believe it or not, the holiday season is upon us! The radio stations are starting to change to Christmas tunes. The Christmas décor is available wherever decorations are sold. And now that we have finished stuffing ourselves with turkey and all the trimmings, the holiday season has officially begun! In light of this, we are looking forward to kicking off the season of Advent together in worship this weekend, as we prepare our hearts to celebrate Jesus as our Emmanuel—God with us.
As we look ahead to this month, we have some really exciting holiday events coming up in the life of our church. Each of these events are great opportunities to spread the holiday cheer, particularly in two ways: invite and serve.
As you read about the upcoming events in the e-newsletter below, consider who you may invite. Ask God to put people on your heart. While it may seem daunting to ask someone to come along with you, always remember: the worst they could say is no! And we certainly don’t want to say their “no” for them. You never know when God may use you to share his love with a friend, neighbor, co-worker, or family member this Christmas season.
Also, please think about the way God may be nudging you to serve. The holiday season is when we remember all that God has given us. Serving at the church is a simple way to say “thank you” to God by giving your time and efforts in order to bless those who enter our doors. There will be a big sign-up board in the lobby this weekend and through December with all the different ways you can do this. Head back there and check out the ways you can serve the Lord, his church, and our community!
So, before you move along to the next email in your inbox or the next item on your agenda, glance through the rest of this newsletter and ask God: “Lord, who would you like me to invite and how would you like me to serve this weekend.” And then take that step! Because you never know how your simple yet meaningful action may bless someone’s Christmas season in a special way.
