Pastor Mark back in the pulpit this weekend

Pastor Mark back in the pulpit this weekend

Every one of us can recount a vacation that didn’t QUITE turn out as they had planned. This was certainly one of those for the Toones! While leading a great group of folks on a Reformation Tour in Germany and Switzerland, I ended up in an Emergency Room in Zurich. They took care of things temporarily and, when I returned to the U.S., I was able to get an expedited surgery that seems to have been successful. I’m 90 percent healed up, although I’m discovering I’m not a very patient patient (imagine that!) and am having to moderate my activities for a while.

That won’t stop me from preaching this weekend as I start a new series on my favorite Psalm in the Bible, Psalm 139…and one that has proven remarkably beneficial to me over the last few weeks.

It will also be an opportunity for me to say “thank you” to my Sweetheart Church: to our wonderful staff, elders, and deacons for the leadership they provided during my absence; and to you, my dear church family, for your prayers, well-wishes and great humor.

I’m sorry if the news of my situation brought stress to you (as some told me me) and I’m looking forward to being with you face-to-face this weekend, diving into a great text, telling a few stories and sharing some of what the Lord has been teaching me over these last few weeks!

I’ll see you in church…and bring a friend!

Pastor Mark

P.S. If you’ve ever dreamed of joining me on a pilgrimage to Israel, you’ll want to reserve your spot for November 2019. I’m not sure how many more I will lead and this journey ought to be on every Christian’s bucket list. Pick up a brochure from the Connect Center or the Reception Desk on the third floor, or contact Kathy Berry at kberry@chapelhillpc.org.
