How was your trip?

How was your trip?

“How was your trip?” I’ve been asked that question about 57 times in the two weeks since I returned from Cambodia. With teams returning from Cambodia, India and ASU the week before Easter, that question has been asked a lot around the halls of Chapel Hill. I’m certain answers range from amazing to life-changing to challenging to hot! Some witnessed extreme material poverty, some witnessed spiritual poverty, some saw hope, some wrestled with despair, some witnessed people come to know Jesus for the first time.

When you ask “How was your trip,” you might hear stories about singing “Because He Lives!” in India or Cambodia. You might hear stories of having the courage to ask a college student what they think about Jesus. Or what about the story of wrestling to see God in the slums and luxury malls of New Delhi? You might hear about people who survived genocide and now share the gospel. You might hear stories about Cambodia conga lines and Sari swagger. You might hear about tuks tuks, rickshaws, ubers and airplanes. Let’s be honest, you will probably hear about the heat.

I hope you hear stories about God at work. Each of our teams walked alongside organizations that are making disciples in different contexts. I hope you see ways that we were changed by our time away, be it a small shift or life altering. I hope you feel encouraged as we all brim with excitement, that you lean in and say “Tell me more!”

As we celebrate the return of these teams, we want to give our church a chance to hear some of the ways we saw God in other parts of the world. Please join us this week as we hear from India (Sunday, 12:30-2:00pm in the Gathering Place) and Cambodia (Wednesday, 6:30-8:00pm in the Memorial Chapel), and then again on May 22 to hear from ASU (12:30-2:00pm). We’ll bring the snacks and stories!

For all the Teams,
