What is Revival? | Isaiah 40:1-11 | Chapel Hill Church Gig Harbor

In February 2023, a chapel service at Asbury University turned into two weeks of nonstop worship and prayer, drawing an estimated 50,000 people from around the world. People called it revival. But what actually is it — and would we recognize it if God sent it here?

Pastor Ellis kicks off our new fall series, Heart of Revival, walking through the second half of Isaiah to find out. In Isaiah 40, he shows that revival isn’t a hyped-up emotional event or something reserved for another era — it’s what happens whenever God comes near: sin is forgiven, his Word is exalted, and the good news gets proclaimed.

If revival starts with preparation, not a spectacle, the real question isn’t whether God can bring it — it’s whether we’re preparing the way.

📖 Scripture: Isaiah 40:1-11
