Looking back, looking ahead, and free pie!
Every once in a while, we have a town hall meeting here at Chapel Hill. This is a chance for us to gather as a church family and talk together about important things.
Tuesday, August 8, at 6:00 pm, we’ll have our next gathering of this sort: a State of the Church Dessert. It will begin with free pie for the first 200 people who show up…and then, we’ll have a conversation. I want to share with you a retrospective on this last year, the challenges we faced, the exciting ways in which God showed up, the successes that deserve to be celebrated. I’m going to share also with you our financial situation and report on the amazing work you have accomplished through our Beyond These Walls investments.
Then, we are going to talk about next year. What do we believe God has in store? What are our goals for 2024? What are the challenges we face? If we are successful, what will Chapel Hill look like 12 months from now? 2023-24 is going to be a year like no other; this is your chance to get a jumpstart on the happenings around here.
This will also be an opportunity to meet and hear from our elders. Our entire Session will be present and available. In fact, we will close our town hall with a “question-and-response” time, and you can ask any question you wish of any of our leaders; we will do our best to answer them.
It won’t be a long meeting: only 75 minutes. But it will be important, informative and, I think, fun!
