Chapel Hill Habitat Home

Chapel Hill Habitat Home

Let’s build a place called home.

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization that helps people build and improve places to call home. They believe that everyone deserves a safe and stable place to live, and they work to make that a reality for families in need.

The Chapel Hill Home is the first Habitat home built in Gig Harbor in over a decade, and is one of three single-family homes in the small development near St. Anthony Hospital. Because the property is located just above Highway 16, all three homes are constructed with insulated concrete foam walls rather than standard framing to create additional soundproofing—a first for Tacoma Habitat.

Chapel Hill has been honored to partner with Habitat by volunteering to build the Chapel Hill Home, praying and giving financially through Beyond These Walls. It’s exciting to be part of what God is doing to help the community of Gig Harbor thrive!

Landscaping Volunteer Opportunity April 6 – Open to Children

Volunteers of all ages can participate in landscaping around the three Habitat properties in Gig Harbor on Saturday, April 6. This workday is open to younger volunteers if supervised by a parent or guardian. Please reach out to Chandra Hallam if you are interested.

Home Dedication Ceremony April 27

Celebrate the completion of the Chapel Hill Home with the new homeowners, Kris and Hailey, as the home becomes their own on Saturday, April 27. Chapel Hill will be part of blessing the home and giving them a special hand-made quilt from our own Comfort Quilters. Please reach out to Chandra Hallam if you are interested in attending.

Volunteer Contributions

A total of 38 volunteers from Chapel Hill completed 333 hours of work on the home! We are thankful for all that God has equipped us to do and that He enabled us to be part of building the Chapel Hill Home. Pictured above, Chapel Hill members had the opportunity to raise the walls of the home, working alongside Kris the homeowner. Pictured below, Chapel Hill LifeGroups served together for Habitat builds, living out their faith in service to our community.

Chapel Hill also hosted a Women’s Build that included several mothers and daughters who know the value of home and family.

Learn & pray

Pray:

  • For God to be at work in the lives of future homeowners, Kris and Hailey, as they enter into home ownership. They are most excited about having a yard for their son to play in. May this be a place of stability and thriving for generations in their family.
  • For the construction of the three Gig Harbor homes to finish on schedule and final inspections to go well.
  • For a meaningful Home Dedication with Kris and Hailey, where Chapel Hill will have a chance to bless their new home and celebrate the completion together.
  • For future home-owners to be matched with the second and third homes in the Gig Harbor development. Find eligibility requirements here.
  • For God to continue to use Habitat to build up community among neighborhoods, local churches and future homeowners. May each home be an opportunity to build His Kingdom in the process.
