Baptisms

Baptisms

The profound privilege of worshiping in public strikes me every time I walk or drive by the Eddon Boat Park in the Harbor. We get to proclaim the name of Jesus here! Out loud! From a sound system! Then we get to see the Good News of Jesus in baptisms. We see people washed with water as Jesus washes our sin. We see people go down out of sight and then come back up just as we acknowledge the death of our own way in order to be raised up and walk a new way with Jesus. Wonderstruck. Every time.

When was the last time God filled you with wonder? When was the last time you said you believed in Jesus out loud? The invitation is before you.
This Sunday at 3:00 in the afternoon at the Eddon Boat Park come worship. Come marvel at the new life Jesus offers us. Come say the name of Jesus out loud. Sing with us of his Amazing Grace. Celebrate with those who are joining the covenant family for the first time. And if you’ve never been baptized, take the plunge! You can speak with an elder right then and there and be baptized.

Saturday Night at Chapel Hill won’t be at Chapel Hill this week! To help prepare for Sunday, we are joining down at the baptism shores right there at the corner of Stinson and Harborview Drive at 6:30pm. Feel free to bring a picnic dinner and a blanket or chairs, and join us as we worship and prepare, praying over this space and our community, praying for revival.

Will you pray with me even now?
God, make yourself known in Gig Harbor. Show us our salvation. You welcome us into your family. You wash us clean. You raise us to walk in new life with you both now and forever. Fill our community with your presence and with the knowledge of your salvation. We pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.

See you outside this weekend, 6:30 Saturday night and 3:00 Sunday afternoon. FYI—The Gig Harbor Yacht Club is graciously allowing us to park in their lot. (And join us Sunday morning—9:00 and 10:45 with terrific regularity!)
