And we’re off!

And we’re off!

And we’re off!

The first Saturday Night at Chapel Hill is in the can. And, wow, what a start! More than 300 folks packed into (and oozed out of) the Memorial Chapel for our inaugural stab at weekend evening worship.

Thanks to all who came just to show your support. I suspect that this Saturday, we will have a better idea of who hopes to make this their weekly Sabbath. Please, keep praying for us as we work through the wonderful challenges posed by such an enthusiastic response. More importantly, will you continue to pray for those disconnected folks for whom this service will be a great gift! And don’t be afraid to remind them of it! We’ll see you tonight for round two!

On another note, if I were to ask you what is the single greatest spiritual influence in a family, what would your answer be? If you said, “Dad,” you’d be right. By a mile. Research shows that when husband and dad assumes spiritual leadership in their family, leadership that God designed them for and expects of them, the spiritual temperature of the entire family rises. One of the best things we could do to strengthen marriages, families and the local church, would be to strengthen men, spiritually.

To that end, I want to invite every man to participate in the Men’s Retreat, October 9-11. It will be held at beautiful Cascades Conference Center and feature a return appearance of Dr. Tim Gardner as our guest speaker. You can find out more about Tim at his website.

Well, an exciting and a bit breathless start to the new program year! I hope you are settling in to your fall routine… including your life as a member of the Chapel Hill family.
