Give

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.                            (2 Corinthians 9:6-8 ESV)

Legacy Giving

About Legacy Giving

As members and friends of Chapel Hill, we share a deep sense of gratitude for those who have gone before us. Each time we gather, we are reminded of the gifts we were so generously given by our ancestors in the faith. As a result of their generosity, Chapel Hill is able to deliver the message of Jesus to our community and to the world. We welcome you to make such a commitment in thanksgiving to God. Planned giving is not reserved solely for those with great financial wealth or special financial expertise. It is available to anyone with a generous spirit and can be facilitated by working in conjunction with an attorney and/or contacting Dawn Davis CHPC’s Finance Director.

Why consider a legacy gift?

Sharing our faith and gifts ensures that coming generations can respond to Christ’s calling in our church, community, and the world. Your gift will enrich the lives of others in countless ways and may bring a personal sense of joy and fulfilment. There are many options to choose from when you are considering a planned gift to CHPC. Planned gifts may provide a number of financial benefits to the donor including lifetime income, tax savings, reduced capital gains and estate taxes, and release from financial management. You can name Chapel Hill in your will, trust or beneficiary designations. You can also make lifetime donations at any time. Gifts can be open ended or directed to specific funds.

Legacy Circle

Chapel Hill has established a Legacy Circle in order to recognize and thank our members and friends who have remembered the church in their planned giving. The circle is intended to foster and extend the culture of giving established by our church ancestors whose caring gifts have enabled succeeding generations to fulfill God’s work on earth. Gifts both large and small can significantly impact the future. There are many options to choose from when you are considering a planned gift to CHPC. If you are considering making a planned gift to CHPC, or would like more information, please contact Dawn Davis, the church’s Director of Finance. If you have already included CHPC in your estate plan and would like to be added as a member of the Legacy Circle, please contact Dawn Davis

Benefits of an Estate Plan

Christian estate planning involves extending your faith and desires through charitable bequest even after you are gone. Proper planning can reduce estate taxes, leaving more money for family members and gifting. You can name CHPC in your will, trust or beneficiary designations. You can also make lifetime donations at any time. Gifts can be open ended or directed to specific funds.

Planned Giving Options

Lifetime gifts: There are a number of ways you can make a gift to CHPC and provide income for yourself and a family member during your lifetimes. These gifts may provide both current tax benefits and estate tax savings.

Gifts Made through Your Will: In making a bequest to CHPC, you may:

  • Designate a specific amount
  • Designate a percentage
  • Designate a specific item such as a security, real estate, art work, etc.
  • Establish a Testamentary Trust with income retained for your heirs for a period of time and the remainder to the CHPC or, with income to the CHPC, the remainder to your heirs.

Retirement Benefits: You may designate the CHPC as a beneficiary of your retirement plan and significantly reduce your estate and income taxes.

Life Insurance: Life insurance no longer needed for your family’s security may be redirected to CHPC, providing a current tax deduction for the cash value of the policy.

What Can You Do if You Are Interested in Making a Charitable Gift to CHPC?

If you want to consider other giving options or would like more information on the options mentioned here, please contact Dawn Davis, CHPC Director of Finance. We strongly urge our donors to work closely with their professional advisors to determine the most advantageous charitable estate plan for them.
