compassion kit team

TEAM PURPOSE:

This team coordinates an opportunity to serve and learn about neighbors experiencing homelessness by assembling hygiene and snack kits, writing notes, and hearing testimonies. We create a fun, event accessible to all ages and help connect the congregation to our local outreach partner the Tacoma Rescue Mission.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Gather donations of needed items via Amazon or sign-up
• Room set-up and some heavy lifting
• Drop off kits at the Tacoma Rescue mission donation center
• Communicate with street ministry volunteer teams
• Plan kit build dates and room bookings

SPIRITUAL & PRACTICAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Team members who enjoy behind the scenes, task work will thrive.
• People skills are helpful for hospitality at the event.
• Come with a heart to learn from people with different life experiences.
• This is a great ministry for people new to faith to witness God’s mercy and power to change lives.

TIME COMMITMENT

Events are typically 3 times/year with planning in between.
