PLEASE NOTE: During the COVID-19 pandemic, Alpha will be offered online starting April 21.
More people than ever are asking questions about life right now in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Is there more to life? Are you feeling afraid or disconnected? Maybe you’re wondering if life doesn’t have a greater purpose than what we are going through.
Have you heard about Alpha? It might be for you if:
- you are not connected to the Christian faith, or any faith at all;
- you have big questions or doubts about faith;
- you are someone who is new to Christianity and you are trying to figure out what it means to have faith;
- you know anyone who is asking those questions and you would like to invite them to participate with you.
Typically, Alpha participants meet together weekly, share a meal, watch a talk, and then discuss the talk in small groups. Since we can’t do that in person right now because of COVID-19, we are offering Alpha online using Zoom and breakout rooms.
We've launched Alpha Online. And we want you to consider whether or not you’d like to attend, or whether or not you would like to invite someone exploring faith to attend with you.
Because of the nature of Zoom, we’re asking everyone to pre-register so we can send you a private link. And remember—because we are meeting online, this is your chance to invite a friend or family member to come to Alpha with you no matter where they live! Alpha Online really breaks open the geographic limitations of who can participate.
Alpha is for everyone. It’s for believers established in their faith and for people seeking answers to life’s big questions. It’s a place to question, an open dialog, and a tool to help us better understand how to be a follower of Christ in this cultural moment. So come…and bring a friend.
WHAT IS ALPHA?
Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith, typically run over eleven weeks. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha is run all around the globe, and everyone is welcome.
Some of our recent Alpha participants reflected on their experiences:
Here's Colin's experience with Alpha:
WHAT HAPPENS at alpha?
A free meal. That's right, free. We'll even feed (and watch) your children, so feel free to bring them too! Bonding over a meal is a great way to create community, so we start with food and take time to get to know one another.
A talk. The talks are designed to create, engage and inspire conversation. Alpha follows a film series of different topics each week that tackle big questions about faith and Christianity like "Is there more to life than this?" and "Who is Jesus?"
A discussion. Probably the most important part of any Alpha: the chance to share thoughts and ideas on the topic, and simply discuss it in a small group. There’s no obligation to say anything. And there’s nothing you can’t say. It’s an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment.
WHEN IS ALPHA HAPPENING?
Stay tuned for information on upcoming Alpha sessions!
Alpha runs on relational hospitality by individuals like you who serve in a variety of roles. We will train you and give you the tools and resources you need to walk with others as they start their faith journey!
