Sunday, November 1

10:00 am Worship Service Followed by On- and Off-Campus Serving Opportunities

Worship Center + Serving Throughout Our Community

Serve Sunday is an opportunity for our whole church family to respond to God’s renewing work by loving and serving our neighbors.

Throughout The Heart of Revival sermon series, we’ve been asking God to do what only he can do. True revival is not something we manufacture through our own effort or enthusiasm. God is the one who awakens, restores, and renews his people by his presence and grace. But when God renews us, it changes how we live. We respond to his grace with worship, obedience, love, and service.

On Sunday, November 1, we’ll explore what that response can look like together.

Serve Sunday begins at 10:00 am in the Worship Center with a shortened 30-minute worship service and a message from Isaiah 58 asking, “How Should Revival Affect Society?” Isaiah gives us a picture of God’s people whose worship is reflected in mercy, generosity, and care for others.

After worship, we’ll be sent out to serve our neighbors through three key ministry areas: Tacoma Rescue Mission, Kitsap House—our church plant in Port Orchard—and local schools. Some opportunities will take place right here at Chapel Hill, while others will send us into our surrounding communities. Serving times vary by opportunity, from about 30 minutes to two hours, so choose the opportunity that works best for you when you sign up.

One of our on-campus opportunities will be a Compassion Kit Build, assembling kits with hygiene essentials for people served by Tacoma Rescue Mission. You can help make the Kit Build possible before Serve Sunday even arrives by purchasing needed items such as toothpaste and deodorant from our Amazon Wishlist. Whether you participate in the Kit Build or choose another serving opportunity, your purchases will help make this project possible.

Serve Sunday really is for the whole family. Parents and kids in kindergarten through 5th grade can serve together through our regular serving opportunities. During the shortened worship service, Early Childhood programming will be available for babies through PreK. After worship, parents will pick up their little ones and can participate together in Mini-Serve in the Neel Chapel. Families can move through simple serving stations where young children can decorate cards and placemats for Tacoma Rescue Mission, along with fun play spaces designed especially for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. Early Childhood programming will not continue during the serving time; Mini-Serve gives our youngest kids and their parents a way to serve side by side.

And you don’t need to wonder about lunch. We’ll provide light refreshments whether you’re serving here at Chapel Hill or out in the community. If you’d like something more substantial, feel free to pack a lunch to bring with you.

God does the renewing. We have the joy of responding.

Join your Chapel Hill family November 1 as we gather to worship and then go out together to love God by loving our neighbors.
