prison ministry

TEAM PURPOSE:

We gather to learn together about the impacts of incarceration and come alongside local efforts toward restoration in the lives of those who are incarcerated and their family members. The team heads up Prison Fellowship Angel Tree and a One Parish-One Prisoner reentry support team for incarcerated women. We equip our church family to live on mission in our community and grow in understanding of issues facing those impacted by incarceration.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinate Angel Tree gift program for our church.
• Re-entry support team commitment (2 years).
• Visit and communicate with someone in prison.
• Be a support team for a woman exiting the prison.
• Coordinate clothing drives for the women’s prison.

SPIRITUAL & PRACTICAL QUALIFICATIONS

Good communication skills. Compassion, listening, flexibility, empathy, non-judgmental, personal boundaries. Some administration involved for Angel Tree.

TIME COMMITMENT

Weekly in the months of October, November, December for Angel Tree. Monthly training and communication for One Parish-One Prisoner and gradually increases as the person is released based on need.
