handbell choirs
TEAM PURPOSE:
The handbell choirs exist to contribute to worship services with inspiring music that draws people to God. The handbell groups of Chapel Hill also reach out into the community bringing our music to those who would not ordinarily attend church.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend weekly rehearsals Sept – June.
- Ring in church services approximately once a month.
- Study handbell techniques to perfect the skills.
- Be a team player by attending regularly & uplifting members.
- Consider being a substitute ringer.
SPIRITUAL & PRACTICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Basic music reading skill are a big plus! Previous experience ringing bells is welcome. For beginners, music reading skills can be taught. New members are generally middle school through adult ages. The members must be very supportive and encouraging of others. We are 14 ringers playing as one instrument.
TIME COMMITMENT
Rehearsals usually weekly for about 90 min. Performances approximately once a month in worship. Outreach in the community a few times a year. The bell choir is active September – early June. We are always in need of substitute ringers and that is a good way to begin with the group.
