BRIGHT FUTURES--LOCAL REACH Ministries REACH extends compassionate care to those affected by HIV/AIDS and other life threatening illnesses and situations. Every Labor Day Weekend, REACH facilitates a camp for families of HIV/AIDS infected children.
Young Life Gig Harbor Young Life brings the good news of Jesus Christ into the lives of adolescents with an approach that is respectful of who kids are and hopeful about who they can be. Young Life seeks to carry the message of Jesus Christ into that tumultuous tide and points teenagers toward life as they were created to live it. Since 1941, the dynamic that has characterized Young Life is its commitment to relationships — Young Life leaders meeting kids on their turf in the interest of friendship. As leaders get to know teenagers, they are able to share the love of Jesus Christ through platforms like Young Life club, Campaigners and trips to camp.
BRIGHT FUTURES--GLOBAL
Serving with Moldovan Ministries Moldova is in a very difficult economic and political situation, leaving the young generation to face many difficult situations such as poverty and human trafficking. Tanea works in schools making presentations and seminars for young adults about issues important to their age, from a Christian perspective.Â
Serving with African Leadership Partners Peter and Mary Jean are working to train leaders for the church in Southern Africa and coordinating an orphan home ministry called New Life Homes in Swaziland, Southern Africa. They provide a loving and stable home in a Christian environment for children who are orphaned or abandoned due to the HIV/AIDS crisis. This initiative seeks to place children who have no other alternative for care in safe, caring homes. Located on a 195-acre farm in Swaziland, the homes hold families of 8-10 children and their houseparents. These families are self-sustaining and develop healthy, well-rounded children who will be capable of contributing positively to their own communities. There are currently four families thriving under this program. A fund has been set up to build a well for New Life Homes in memory of a Chapel Hill member. Please visit the web site to learn more about Nancy's Well. Serving with Alliance for Children Everywhere, Zambia Alliance for Children Everywhere was founded by Jennie Woods in 1969. ACE and its partners operate safe homes for orphaned and abandoned children, including the internationally recognized House of Moses, a home for premature and high risk infants in Lusaka, Zambia, Africa. Children in the homes are eventually placed into extended families or foster/adoptive families. ACE also operates several crisis nurseries for children under five years old, as well as free primary education programs for children too poor to attend school.
