Our mission communities are dynamic environments in which leadership development, mission education and involvement are nurtured. See below for our current mission communities.

AIDS Learning Community: Does your heart break for those impacted by AIDS? Drop in on this new community to hear stories, share resources, and craft ideas about how we might strengthen our response to the AIDS crisis. We'll grapple with forming a faithful rejoinder in the midst of a culture also responding in powerful and provocative ways. This community will seek to impact our church, community and world with a voice of hope in the midst of the global AIDS pandemic. For more information, please contact Sheila Mischke.

Central America Missions Community: This group is led by Dave and Barb Martin, who have led numerous Go Team trips to Guatemala. From 2001 until early 2008 this community partnered with The Agros Foundation/Seattle, Mercer Island Covenant Church, and Bellevue First Presbyterian Church. Together we followed Agros’ Journey with a Village (JWAV) model to support the village of La Esperanza in Guatemala. The partnership concluded when the village became self sufficient. We are forming a new partnership with several families and a local business that is committed to making another Journey with a Village. Our new village, also in Guatemala, is called Via Hortencia 1. Key responsibilities of the group are: praying for the needs of the new partnership, facilitating the Agros booth at Festival of Hope, giving insight at JWAV steering committee meetings, and participating in the leadership of periodic short-term trips to our new village. Anyone interested in joining this group is encouraged to come to one of our weekly prayer meetings. Contact Sheila Mischke to learn more.

CIS Missions Community: This is a wonderful group of people who support our missionaries in the CIS nations. They meet and pray for Doug and Debbie Burleigh and their team before and after they take a missions trip to Russia and other CIS nations. Each person who is supporting this ministry is also encouraged to participate in a mission trip with the team one day themselves. Contact Sheila Mischke for more information.

Moldova Missions Community: This dynamic group of men and women meet monthly to pray, update, and brainstorm about ways to support the ministry of Tanea Ceban to young people in Moldova. Each person writes to and prays for specific young people in Moldova and receives correspondence back regularly. Under the leadership of Rosemary Brynestad, this group has helped to raise thousands of dollars for this ministry through creative ideas such as raffles, cookie sales, etc. But more importantly these people have connected their hearts to young people in Moldova and will never be the same. Contact Barb Wentlandt for more information.

SE Asia Missions Community: In support of missionaries, Dave and Karen Eubank, and their ministry with Christians Concerned for Burma, the SE Asia missions community helps facilitate events to provide awareness and funds for the needs of the Internally Displaced People of Burma. The group focuses on three main events throughout the year; Day of Prayer for Burma (March), Run for Relief—Burma (April) and Festival of HOPE (November). Contact Sheila Mischke to be a part of this missions community.

Swaziland Missions Community: This group meets periodically to help raise awareness and funds for the mission of African Leadership Partners and missionaries Peter and Mary Jean Kopp in Swaziland, Southern Africa. The Kopps’ recent project, New Life Homes, provides homes, sustenance and Christian families for children that have been orphaned due to the HIV/AIDS crisis in Africa. Our Swaziland task force plans events, facilitate a booth at Festival of HOPE and will take a GO Team to Swaziland in April 2009. Please contact Sheila Mischke for more information.
