Swaziland
Organization: African Leadership Partners/New Life Homes
Dates: 2 weeks in April 2009
Cost: Approximately $2800
New Life Homes is a ministry of African Leadership Partners in Swaziland, Southern Africa. This initiative, led by Peter and Mary Jean Kopp, seeks to place children who are orphaned or abandoned by the HIV/AIDS crisis in loving and stable Christian homes. The houses, on a 195-acre farm, hold families of 8-10 children and their houseparents. These families work towards being self-sustaining and developing healthy, well-rounded children who are capable of contributing positively to their communities. Chapel Hill committed financially to building New Life Home #1 and continues to send funds and volunteers to assist with this ministry as needed. Chapel Hill’s 2009 team will serve through leading a vacation Bible school program with the children of New Life Homes as well as performing various household and maintenance activities like painting, minor home repairs, gardening and agricultural projects. Those with a love and energy for children are encouraged to apply. Home maintenance, plumbing or electrical skills would be an additional bonus.
