Guatemala City to Chichicastenango

Saturday – Day 2
Guatemala City to Chichicastenango

April Guat Day 2 churchMathew 28:18-20  Then Jesus came to them and said, “all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age.

April Guat Day 2 church 2John 10:27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

Put three foreigners behind the wheel of three vehicles in the heart of Guatemala City and you are bound for an adventure.Through congested diesel ridden highways and curvy mountainous roads we made our way to Chichicastenago today. Divine protection, laughter, good driving, walkie-talkies and our faithful hostess, Nancy, contributed to our safe arrival.Thank you, Lord! We hear from Gail that today’s driving was a piece of cake compared to what awaits us tomorrow… gasp!

April Guat Day 2 kevin and kidsKevin challenged us this morning to remember that we can do nothing with out the Lord and that our focus for our time in Guatemala is to see where the Lord is working and join Him in obedience to His leading.

April Guat Day 2 Cemetery 2Listening to His still small voice today, lead us to the cemetery in Chichi where we encountered a man that had just fallen and was disoriented and hurt.

April Guat Day 2 cemeteryThankfully, the Lord had surrounded us with children/vendors from town who could both translate and share their own love for Christ alongside us.

What a privilege to be a part of what the Lord was up to in Chichi today through conversations with Ricardo, Juana, Sarah, Lucia and many more.

Black beans find there way into every meal here…no complaints from me! They were served alongside scrambled eggs this morning, in a soup at lunch and in a dessert combined with plantains this evening (surprisingly deliciouso.)

Personally, I was moved several times today with the reality that I am here with my family. Kevin and I have dreamed of this opportunity for years and are so blessed and excited to be doing missions with our children, Chloe (8) and Eli (5).

Both have been fabulous travelers, if I do say so myself. They are right in the middle of it all…absorbing all the new sights, smells, customs and people.

April Guat Day 2 chloe and friendsIt was fun for them to have the children follow us around Chichi today…the girls wanted to touch Chloe’s soft curls and continually told us that Eli was “so pretty.” I think Chloe and Eli’s eyes are open to see what the Lord may be up to and they are willing to come along for the ride. We are all anxious to finally arrive to Villa Hortencia on Monday!

Thank you for your prayers! We continue to need them…and are undoubtedly benefitting from them.
