Sun & Fruit

Sun & Fruit

It was a beautiful day. Not only did the sun shine brightly on us, and we felt its warmth, we saw fruit. Felu gave his heart to Christ. We have seen him return this week to multiple talks, today talking with Michelle at the end, eventually praying with her. Brian and him went to play basketball in the afternoon. It was a beautiful picture of community. His smile was big and bright and he looked so happy as he and Brian went off to the rec. center.

Stacie described this as a picutre of the Body of Christ. It began with Stacie handing him a flyer a few days ago. Then he returned. He talked. We prayed. You prayed. His heart is changed. We are the hands and feet of Christ, submitting to his will, asking for guidance and direction – for the right words, at the right time. And it has happened. He has answered!

We served the homeless tonight in Portland – actually the “houseless.” More than 25 of us joined many more in an evening of service to people on the streets. We walked about the city handing out clothes, food and toiletries. Another group of us walked through many Portland streets praying. The beautiful thing is that one of the Christian students serving this week in this mission organized the whole thing.

Kristen stopped by our worldview survey booth and took the survey. She ended up as an Existentialist. I invited her to the talk at 1 p.m. and she said “Sure.” She showed up to the talk on God of Love; God of Justice. When Michelle began to talk about God’s love, Kristen started weeping and weeping. She said “I used to study the Bible and go to church, but it has been a long time.”

Many other things are happening. These are only a few glimpses of the work God is doing. It is a privelege to hear the heart of another human being.

As we head into our last day on campus, pray for strong follow-up in the coming weeks – for wisdom for Shawn Hart and the others working to reach out to all the students we’ve connected with.

Thank you so very much!
