Take one step forward

Take one step forward

Waiting isn’t always doing nothing; sometimes, waiting is doing just the next best thing.

Let’s lift our eyes higher than our troubles up to the God who has proven his faithfulness and translate our grumbling into acts of grace.

Here are service options that you can take right now. Take one step forward!

Contribute to our virtual care package for world relief haiti.

Snap a picture, write a message, or record a fun video to encourage our friends and local churches—be creative! Send contributions or questions to Cara Taylor, global outreach coordinator, by August 23.

PRAY: Holy Spirit, give power to our Haitian family. Help churches unite to meet the needs of their neighbors and go out with the good news of Christ. Restore marriages, finances, and health. Protect this vulnerable country from the global economic crisis.

Assemble a compassion kit for neighbors experiencing homelessness.

Bring any of the following supplies or fill gallon resealable plastic bags with these items. Deliver on Fridays at 3:00 pm in the Chapel Hill Parking lot Rosedale entrance.

  • White athletic socks (helps prevent foot fungus)
  • Hotel-sized toiletries: shampoo, conditioner, lotion, bar soap, deodorant, hand sanitizer
  • Razors and shaving cream
  • Soft breakfast bars
  • Water bottle
  • A note of encouragement and scripture
  • Optional: Band-aids, small ointment packs, feminine hygiene, sunscreen, bug spray, washcloth

PRAY: Jesus, you love all of us. Restore the brokenness that is at the root of homelessness; poverty of resources, poverty of relationships, and spiritual poverty. Heal our own areas of poverty as we serve others.

Volunteer for three hours at the FISH Food Bank filling orders, bagging or restocking.

Masks required.
Weekday mornings (9:00 am-12:30 pm) or afternoons (12:15-3:45 pm)

PRAY: Lord, encourage those who are struggling to provide for their families. May this simple gift of food help them to trust you in hard times. Make us a blessing to show our neighbors that you love us and meet our needs.

Help Safe Haven school in Poipet, Cambodia finish their building extension.

On the Thai border known for trafficking, help 200 children to have a promising future and love for Jesus.
Make a gift and send a message to the Safe Haven kids.

PRAY: God of power, sustain people of faith in the villages as they are more isolated and without work, protect medically vulnerable communities from the spread of disease, equip ministry leaders in this crisis and transition, and bless these precious children.

Help Agua Viva finish Pastor Daniel‘s house in Ensenada, Mexico.

Agua Viva has hosted hundreds of Chapel Hill teens and adults. Although short term teams have come to a halt these days, their mission of reaching Mexico for Christ is ongoing!
Contribute to building supplies and send an encouraging word

PRAY: Jesus, give Pastor Daniel your grace and truth to guide his congregation and the young people he mentors. Bring many to faith and into a community that cares for each other and gives you glory.

Encourage our local students, parents, and schools.

We are actively working on ways to support those adapting to distance learning or homeschool and work. We commit to pray for our schools and will share more details soon. Let us know if you want to be a part of any of these plans! Contact Tina Picard.

PRAY: Father, you know each child by name even though we feel isolated. May this year bring growth and reminders of your love and your purpose for their lives. Strengthen teachers and parents for the work ahead. Show us how to help each other.
