Our Members' ProjectsChapel Hill's Members' Projects are members and groups who invest in an individual or ministry that indicates involvement on a smaller scale, renewable annually.
Catalyst Leadership Foundation, India Located in New Dehli, India, Catalyst's vision is to provide families a life filled with identity and purpose, education and training, beauty and responsibility, and an economically sustainable lifestyle. They desire to connect the most vulnerable of Delhi to a new generation of emerging leaders in order to carry out their mission and vision. Their programs include Compass—a mentoring program for teens/young adults; Diversion—life-sustaining skills for young girls/women; Reboot—helping young families to gain skills for living on their own; Reality Bites—reflection time for leaders to connect with the vulnerable and displaced; and Thank God It's Saturday—play opportunities for children living in the slums. Many from these groups regularly attend the National Prayer Breakfast in Food Backpacks 4 Kids![]() Food Backpacks 4 Kids' mission is to provide weekend backpacks of food to students and families who qualify for free/reduced lunches through the Peninsula School District. As an arm of Peninsula Communities of Faith, this group distributes over 130 food backpacks weekly to elementary students and homeless high school students. The food for the backpacks is donated by local churches and organizations or purchased with dollars from generous donors. Good Shepherd Church, Pastor Bandu, Sri Lanka The vision of Pastor Bandu and the Good Shepherd Church in Sri Lanka is to transform the nation by spreading the Gospel through cell groups, outreach, teaching, and powerful worship. They want to bring the love of God to their people. For more information, contact Stacie Anderson at 253.514.8247.Heart of Hope Ministries International, Debbie Marshall, Romania Heart of Hope's mission is to embrace orphans, widows and families in desperate need with the love of Christ, to ease their suffering and restore hope. One way they do this is by distributing food baskets and hygiene kits twice a year, at Christmas and Easter. Chapel Hill sends a GO Team every summer for two weeks to serve at a Christian camp for orphaned boys and children in the surrounding villages. To find out more about our GO Team to Romania, contact Crystal Hampton at 253.858.3923.Latin American Mission, Craig and Shelley Rice, Costa Rica Craig serves with an Urbana-like conference called Latina that promotes Christian ministries among young people in Latin America. He also serves as a mentor with the Christian Surfers Mission in their outreach to the surfing community in Jacó (on Costa Rica's Central Pacific coast). Shelley serves with the Rahab Foundation as it assists women and their families who have been involved in commercial sexual exploitation, enabling them to be restored through faith in Jesus Christ and to receive skills necessary to become productive members of society. Shelley's role includes counseling some of the women, development of funding resources, and serving as President of Rahab's administrative board. Manitou Presbyterian Church Manitou Park Presbyterian Church is a small, historic church located in one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Tacoma. As the congregation approaches its centennial in 2012, it seeks ways to promote peace in a vibrant, challenging community. The church is actively engaged in outreach programs that focus on youth and children in the neighborhood, including KidReach tutoring for elementary school students, partnering with Youth for Christ in programs for middle school students, and providing meeting space for a ministry that serves youth who are currently under supervision of the juvenile justice system. Chapel Hill has the privilege of supporting these outreach ministries, as well as the church's most ambitious undertaking, a five-day summer arts camp that is provided free of charge to neighborhood children ages 5-12. Military Support Ministry Military Support Ministry is tasked with supporting area military service members and their families. This includes sending care packages to those who are deployed and providing assistance to spouses and families who are at home. They also provide assistance for USO deployment and homecoming events, veteran’s assistance at The Rescue Mission, funeral and cemetery color guards, and moral support to returning vets. This group meets on the second Monday of each month from 6:30-7:30 pm by the Hebrews coffee shop.
