THE TAYLOR FAMILY'S STORY
Chapel Hill is so excited to support our members Rob & Jennifer Taylor in their pursuit of God's call to Swaziland. There the Taylors will be supporting the ministry of our partners Peter and Mary Jean Kopp with African Leadership Partners. As a church we are committed to sharing the Taylor's story, supporting them financially for up to 10% of their needs, and helping to identify other supporting churches and individuals as well. Rob and Jennifer have been called by God to long-term, cross-cultural ministry. The Antioch Partners (TAP) is a missionary sending agency that partners with local Presbyterian churches in the US to equip followers of Jesus to participate in God's mission in the world. TAP works with congregations as they send out their members, so that these missionaries are effectively equipped and supported, and so that local congregations are extensively, strategically, and radically involved in this process. As wise stewards, we at Chapel Hill believe the church is the primary agent of God's mission in the world and is accountable to God for its use of His resources (both personnel and financial). Therefore, we are excited about partnering with TAP in sending and supporting the Taylors, about being equipped in all the necessary aspects of their care and development. Like TAP, Chapel Hill is committed to meaningful partnerships with long-term mission personnel so as to enable them to thrive in their ministry callings, and this is our commitment to the Taylors. ![]() Rob's Role
In the Community: Rob's knack for projects and his love of working with his hands give him a natural bent for the practical needs of the 195-acre farm at New Life Homes. In a fashion true to Rob's character, he will work alongside Swazi farmers, developing friendships and offering encouragement. Rob also believes he is being called to attend to the needs of the nearby community. His experience as a paramedic firefighter compels him into community service. His heart is to reach beyond the farm into the surrounding area, encouraging other local farmers in a more sustainable and nutritionally valuable practice of food production. He is passionate about the health concerns of the rural Swazis and would count it as blessing if he had the opportunity to assist his new neighbors with basic health education and the issues that arise out of the high rate of HIV/Aids infection. He is driven to help improve the lives of others. He is prayerfully discerning God's call in the area of community development and will be actively seeking opportunity to serve the rural poor.
Jennifer's Role
In the School: Jennifer's background in education and her experience teaching in an ESL environment have prepared her well for the role of educating the children in grades 4-8 on the farm. The community school, situated right on the farm, provides for the orphan children living at New Life Homes, as well as children throughout the community. As the school grows, the need for teachers will expand and Jennifer's skills as a teacher will help address the deep need for quality education in Swaziland. The Kids:
Matthew, Luke, Will and Rachael will offer a ministry of friendship and play! They each have a heart for the work and prepare with prayer and enthusiasm for service to the children on the farm. Matthew, as a 15-year-old, will attend boarding school in the city, and will be at home with us on the farm on weekends. ![]() To learn more:
